Best Skincare Products Of 2023
This is no easy job pulling this list, every year it gets harder and harder, as an independent skin expert I am always on the lookout for the best products. I look for the whole experience from the texture to the results, and if the price is worth the end result.
Best Cleansing Balm; Sarah Chapman, Ultimate Cleanse £54
This one was a new discovery for me in 2023. What I have begun to realise with all Sarah Chapman products is that she packs so many brilliant ingredients into all her skincare formulations. I love the aroma, and the texture and especially love the chosen oils and peptides to leave the skin glowing, super softened and moisturised just from one cleanse. I really appreciated that this cleansing balm is packaged in a pump dispenser for easy access
Best OG Cleansing Balm; Emma Hardie Moringa Cleansing Balm
£44.20
This one is not a new balm for but I hadn’t used it for ages, and I fell back in love with this in 2023. There are so many great cleansing balms, and I am always on the lookout for the latest version. I feel they have reached a plateau and the best ones are the oldies. Be prepared for the aroma to be divine and the makeup to melt effortlessly away.
Best Cleansing Oil; Evolve Kalahari Dream Cleansing Oil £20
My last discovery of 2023, and let me tell you, this cleansing oil is stunning, the aroma is addictive and the texture of your skin after cleansing is perfect. I love the oils they have chosen; melon seed oil, indigo leaf extract and sunflower seed oil make this perfect for normal to dry skin. Your skin will be glowing and oh-so smooth.
Best Cleansing Cream; Skin Rocks The Cream Cleanser £32
The texture of this cleansing cream is gorgeous and melts effortlessly into the skin, melting all traces of impurities dirt and SPF. I used this as my second cleanse to ensure the skin was perfectly prepped and a clean canvas for the rest of my skincare. Leaves the skin intensively conditioned, soothed and moisturised and is packed with plant oils, humectants and amino acids.
Best Toner; Paula’s Choice Age Resist £27
I loved this toner! I love that you can apply this with your hands. I am using an essence so I wiped over with a reusable cotton pad and it leaves the skin feeling hydrated, refreshed, and comforted. Enriched with lecithin which helps bind water to the skin so the perfect combination to work hyaluronic acid and fatty acids. If you have dry, thirsty skin this is a must..
Best Essence; REN Perfect Canvas Smooth, Prep & Plump Essence £45
I am a huge fan of essences and I don’t think my morning routine would exist without one. With the ability to transform a skincare routine and increase the performance of your skincare routine why would you not use one. Ren’s Essence is so hydrating, instantly prepping the skin from the first application leaving the skin plumped and gorged with moisture in a lightweight texture., I have found this more hydrating and plumping than many moisturisers I have tested.
Best Hydrating Mist; Curel Deep Moisture Spray £19.50
My favourite of 2022 and it’s still not beaten. So many sprays are hydrating and refreshing the skin however it’s the Curel Deep Moisture Spray that is leaps ahead of everyone else as the moisture and hydration are on another level and it’s the complete solution for the skin barrier.
Best Vitamin C; Naturium Vitamin C Complex Serum £22
Naturium Vitamin C Complex Serum I am so glad I discovered this brand, and this vitamin c is one of the best products within the range. So easy to introduce into your skincare routine, combining the blend of pure vitamin c with sodium ascorbyl phosphate which converts into pure ascorbic acid once in the skin. Leaves the skin glowing and protected from environmental aggressions.
Best Peptide Serum; Medik8 Liquid Peptide £49
Medik8 Liquid Peptide is a dream, soothing, hydrating, barrier-boosting and smoothing the appearance of lines and wrinkles with a whopping 30% of peptides I love everything about this formula. It does contain hyaluronic acid so great when you want to cut back on the number of layers in your skincare routine.
Best Hydrating Serum and Moisturiser; Hydrakate™ Recharging Serum and Water Cream £132
Hydrakate™ Recharging Serum and Water Cream are the most beautiful hydrating serum and cream, both with stunning textures and exceptional ingredients. The technology I love the most has been included to ensure your skin gets hydration where your it needs it, thanks to aquaporin technology which acts like a reservoir for the skin. Leaves the skin instantly hydrated and skin is glowing.
Best High Street Eye Serum; The Body Shop Edelweiss Eye Serum Concentrate £26
The Body Shop Edelweiss Eye Serum Concentrate, this eye serum blew me away I have been searching for a seriously hydrating serum packed with anti-oxidants to protect the fragile area and especially the collagen to prevent signs of aging and enriched with natural peptides from rice.
Best Retinal Eye Cream; Medik8 Crystal Retinal Ceramide Eye £42
This one is a game changer. If you are like me and noticed regular eye creams just not cutting it and are waking up to lines looking deeper and the skin around the eye more creased, then you went to bed this is brilliant. The first night I tried this I was shocked and impressed and excited I had finally found something. I recommend if you haven’t used retinal or retinol around the eyes before start with Crystal Retinal Ceramide Eye 3 and remember to use this only at nighttime.
Best Granactive Retinoid Eye Serum; Dr Sam’s Flawless Nightly Eye Serum £39
I discovered when my intriguing mind was thinking how effective are granactive retinoids you may have heard them be referred to as HPR. They work slightly differently to retinal and are also believed to be super gentle. I feel a post coming on about the difference between retinal, retinol and granactive retinoids. The Medik8 Crystal Retinal Ceramide Eye and Dr Sam’s Flawless Nightly Eye Serum are both brilliant choices and this one is slightly cheaper but that is the only difference in terms of results.
Best Overnight Peel; Oskia Liquid Mask £68
Oskia Liquid Mask is one of the most beautiful and effective overnight peels combining lactic acid to aid exfoliation and hyaluronic acid to bring instant hydration. Red snow and black carrot infuse the skin with anti-oxidants to protect the brand-new skin cells. Expect radiance, brilliance, smoothness and radiance.
Best Skin Saviour; Cicaplast Baume B5 £18.90
Cicaplast Baume B5, is my go-to and this year more then ever my neck has played up, it will now be my forever go-to. I don’t tend to have sensitive skin, but my neck is where I many years ok reacted to a strong active. This instantly calms and soothes the skin and assists the cells in repairing the barrier. I use this as a mask rather than a cream and this works so well.
