Top Teen Products From Bubble Skincare From An Expert
Understanding your teenager's skincare needs can be as perplexing as deciphering the proper sequence for applying skincare products. Let’s address the elephant in the room, should teenagers be using Drunk Elephant products?
Tweens and teenagers should tread carefully when it comes to choosing skincare products, as some ingredients are unsuitable for youthful skin and entirely unnecessary. Controversial TikTok posts depict 12-year-olds using Drunk Elephant products containing glycolic acid, a skincare care active even adults should use sparingly. As a skincare expert, I've been frequently asked about recommended products for teens, let’s discuss.
My expert tips on what your tween/teenager skin needs:
When it comes to skincare for tweens and teenagers, less is more, avoid using active ingredients like retinoids, strong exfoliating acids, and products with high percentages of actives that their skin doesn't require.
Morning and evening cleansing should be gentle to avoid stripping the skin. Avoid harsh ingredients as they can harm the skin's long-term health.
Your son or daughter doesn't need a separate day cream and night cream, one moisturiser that delivers the right level of hydration and moisture to the skin is the aim here. If their skin is oily, choose a lighter, gel-based formula.
The best thing you can do is encourage them to use sunscreen daily as part of their skincare routine. Stress the importance of applying it like moisturiser every day.
Who is Bubble Skincare?
Bubble Skincare is a brand that claims to have gentle formulas with fierce results. The first thing I noticed about this brand is the fun packaging, if your teenager was attracted to Drunk Elephant due to the brightly coloured packing this will tick that box and be a fraction of the price. The brand is fragrance-free, cruelty-free and suitable for vegans. Their mission is to make affordable, high-quality effective skincare.
Which Bubble Skincare products are worthy of your money?
Fresh Start Gel Cleanser, £16.00
This gel cleanser is excellent for daily morning use, leaving your skin feeling smooth, clean, and bright. I would recommend you apply this to damp skin once a day. Suitable for normal, combination, and oily skin types, but for those with dry or sensitive skin it may leave the skin feeling dry and parched. However, if you wear makeup, I'd suggest using a dedicated makeup remover before cleansing.
Deep Dive AHA + PHA Exfoliating Mask, £18.00
This exfoliating product is great, but it's meant for adults, not necessary for tweens. It’s loaded with AHAs, PHAs, and exfoliating enzymes which go on beautifully and your skin starts to glow immediately. In the wrong hands, this would be overused as the glowing finish it leaves on the skin would be addictive and is way too much for young skin. Keep this one for yourself! The exfoliating acids gently break the bonds that hold the dead skin cells together and the willow bark extract makes it great for helping with congestion whilst the PHA helps to balance the skin. For the price, this is a brilliant exfoliator.
Bubble Offers An Abundance of Options For Moisturisers
Slam Dunk Hydrating Moisturizer, £16.00
This is a gorgeous product, I would use it for myself, the texture is delicious, feels great, and the price is amazing. It's packed with ingredients there are lots of skin soothers, antioxidants and nutrients to leave the skin feeling comforted, replenished, softened, and soothed. When it comes to teenagers I would recommend this one unless they have dry skin and prefer a thicker texture, check out the ones below.
Cloud Surf Water Cream Moisturizer, £16.00
This is the best allrounder day and night cream, and for almost all skin types. It's light, hydrating, and feels refreshing on the skin. It absorbs beautifully and leaves the skin gently moisturised. The brand claims this to be mattifying, minimises pores and controls oil production. I didn’t see any of these results but what I did notice is it is a super gentle, hydrating moisturiser that delivers just the right amount of moisture for most tweens and teenagers.
Level Up Balancing Moisturiser, £16.00
I think this is perfect if your son or daughter is struggling with congestion, breakouts, and excess oil and shine. Level Up is more of a gel-based cream that rapidly absorbs into the skin and leaves the skin shine-free. With the combination of zinc PCA and niacinamide to help control the oil and improve the overall health of the skin, this in my opinion is perfect for my oily and combination skins.
