The Best Lifting And Firming Microcurrent Skin Care Devices
What To Use For Facial Lifting
Facial lifting, contouring and firming can be achieved with skin care tools but like everything you need to be committed. The first decision you need to make is should you use a Gua Sha (traditional Chinese Healing tool) to lift the cheeks and contour the jawline or micro currents to lift the eyebrow and tone and tighten the face. In this blog I am going to take you through micro currents facial tools and compare the two biggest names in home care facial lifting devices.
So, What Are Microcurrents?
Micro currents are based on electrotherapy and this technology has been researched and commonly used in the field of rehabilitation. Low voltage microcurrents are effective for:
Sculpting and defining the jawline
Stimulating the skin’s energy levels (ATP) which are responsible for cell growth and collagen production.
Lift the eyebrows and define the cheek bones
Exercises and re-educates the facial muscle like a gym work out
Gym Workout For The Face
With over 40 muscles in the face and that is not including the neck it makes sense that we need some help in exercising these muscles. As we age the muscle definition and volume declines, so it is important to stimulate and have these facial muscles remaining active. Facial yoga is an option, and I would recommend you look at Luminous Face Yoga they have some great facial exercises and could easily be done whilst you’re driving to work or watching television. However, if you want a convenient alternative then micro currents will be your BFF.
Do Microcurrent Facial Devices Work?
Microcurrent facial devices absolutely do work, however they are a commitment. Initially you will need to use them 5 days a week for 6 weeks and then you can decrease to 3 or 4 days a week once you have regained the muscle definition you require. It’s just like going to the gym its takes consistency and commitment to achieve the results and muscles need to be stimulated frequently to maintain the definition.
Who Can’t Use Microcurrent Facial Devices?
If you are pregnant, suffer with epilepsy or have a pacemaker you should avoid using micro current. If you have any open cuts, abrasions, wounds and extreme sensitivity please avoid the area. If you have Botox avoid the area that has been treated and if you have fillers be sure to follow the practitioner’s advice and wait a few weeks for the filler to settle. If unsure its always best to check with your GP.
How Quickly Will You See Results?
Many people can achieve a great eyebrow lift after one use however, it fades quickly. To strengthen the muscle and to achieve a long-lasting lift you will need to use the device daily. As the muscle definition is improved you will notice the results lasting longer.
Are Microcurrent Facial Devices Worth It?
Microcurrent facial devices are a considered purchase but there is no doubt they will deliver results, however only if you are committed to using them consistently.
NuFace Trinity versus FOREO Bear
The battle of the most popular and well-known facial lifting devices, both a great choice and both will produce a great lift. However both are slightly different and I wanted to share with you, if you are considering purchasing either of these, the advantages and disadvantages.
NuFace Trinity
A great device which will lift, tighten, firm and sculpt with additional attachments that can be purchased later for the eyes, lips and eyebrows as you will notice the NuFace is a little cumbersome so can be tricky around the eyes especially underneath where the tissue is fragile. NuFace recommend 5 mins a day, I felt I took longer and was more like 15 mins. There are four intensities, and I went straight in on the maximum so I could see how it felt and what were the maximum results. The only area I felt any discomfort was on the forehead however all devices can feel sensitive on my forehead it is purely because there is less fat to cushion the microcurrent.

FOREO Bear
With five intensities and the ability to adjust further in the app makes the FOREO Bear very flexible and super effective. It does not stop there FOREO have also included T – Sonic Pulsations which is a patented technology to drive the microcurrent and the products deeper to increase their effectiveness. I like to think of T-Sonic technology as a facial massage for the skin waking up all the skin cells and energising them. Aldo included is a unique anti shock technology which responds to your skin and your sensitivity levels there is virtually no sensation. It’s a brilliant ergonomic size and it sits comfortably in your hand. Comparing the volts and the Hz to the NuFace, the FOREO Bear wins hands down. The BEAR really wins hands down, it appears to have more power in terms of the level of micro current to lift, firm and tightens. T – Sonic technology to empower and leave the skin glowing. What Product Should You Use With Microcurrent Facial Devices?
NuFace Trinity do sell a gel that they recommend to be used with their devices, however I am sadly not a fan, the gel is sticky and doesn’t feel pleasant on the skin.
Important Skin Tip Before Using Micro Current.
If your cleansing with an oil or a balm be sure to follow with a cleansing gel or facial wash that ensures the skin is clean as any oil left on the skin will limit the microcurrent.
Products That Have Been Created For Use With Micro Currents
SBC have created skincare gels that can be used with electrotherapy equipment such as microcurrent facial devices. If you are not sure which SBC gel to use look out for the ionized marking on the front of the packaging. I have the Propolis White Willow and Salicylic Acid which is great for restoring a healthy complexion however they do have many options rosehip, black pearl, aloe vera and many many more.
