The Best Eye Creams For Dark Circles, Sensitivity And Dehydration
Sick Of Dark Circles?
I knew I wanted to write a blog after being inundated with questions about what the best eye cream is to use. With so many different eye concerns and challenges it soon became clear that there was too many to be on one blog. If its anti-ageing that is your focus and you want to target, lines and wrinkles, slackness, hooding of the eyelids and crepiness be sure to check out my ‘Best Anti-Ageing Eye Creams’ blog.
Lines and wrinkles are one thing but how do we target dark circles, puffiness, sensitivity, and tiredness. All these skin conditions are challenging to treat and bothersome for us when it is the first thing you see when you wake up.
To make this easy so you can quickly find what you need for your eyes, I have categorised them into:
Best High Street Eye Creams and Gels for Dark Circles
Best Eye Creams for Tired Eyes and all rounder
Best Eye Serums
Best Eye Creams for Sensitive Skin
Best High Street Eye Creams For Dark Circles
Caffeine is probably one of the most widely used ingredients used in eye care and the simple reason its brilliant on dark circles and puffiness. Caffeine drains and decongests leaving the eye area refreshed.
It’s important to note these products work best in the morning as the eye area can be very sluggish and would benefit from the caffeine kick (just like us).
Dark circles are one of the hardest eye concerns to treat, there are so many influencing factors and genetics being the biggest, if the dark circles are hereditary then we can only reduce the appearance of the shadows and darkness.
The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG
Combining caffeine to target the dark circles, with EGCG which is a powerful antioxidant which is found in tea and reduces inflammation. Inflammation is one of the biggest causes of dark circles and the pressure of environmental aggressions like free radicals attacking the skin and the skin response to the stress and inflammation causes pressure and disruption to the red blood cells which causing blueish and purplish undertones under the eyes. I would use this as a serum if the skin is really dehydrated as you may notice it’s not hydrating enough.
The Inkey List Caffeine Eye Cream
The Inkey list and The Ordinary are often compared and i know I am asked so many times which is best as these two brands are so similar in their concept. If you have dry skin as well as dark circles this is the better out of the two and that is thanks to the squalene and hyaluronic acid. However, if you want to tackle the dark circles and your happy to apply a hydrating eye cream over the top of the eye solution then use The Ordinary Caffeine Solution as this appears to work the best of dark circles.
Best Eye All-Rounder Eye Creams For Tired Eyes
I love brightening and illuminating eye creams they are the perfect antidote when the eyes are giving away how tired you are or worse when someone says you look tired.
However, I do not want to compromise my anti-ageing results or hydration or depuffing or diminishing dark circles, basically I want it all. Both Sunday Riley and Origins have created the brilliant eye creams that literally are all-rounders eye creams.
Sunday Riley Auto Correct
This brilliant eye brightening and illuminating eye cream is the perfect antidote when the eyes are giving away how tired you are or worse when someone says you look tired. Auto Correct is a brilliant all-rounder eye cream which I love to apply in the morning. It immediately brightens and diminishes the appearance of dark circles and puffiness. The combination of caffeine and Ginzing help to reduce the puffiness and energize the eye tissues and Auto Correct is packed with hydrating ingredients which is essential for the eye that dehydrates do easily.
Origins Eye-On-The-Go Ginzing™ Refreshing Eye Cream to Brighten and DePuff
The complete GINZING range from origins is brilliant and this is no exception. Ginzing helps to stimulate the blood and lymph flow which is essential when we want to drain away dark circles and puffiness, combine this with caffeine and you have an energising, restoring formula. Hyaluronic acid and peptides are also included in the formula. Whilst they have positioned this as an anti-ageing eye cream, you’re going to benefit from the added hydrating and collagen boosting ingredients, however it doesn’t have the brightening power of Sunday Riley Auto Correct.
Best Eye Serums
For many of you that have followed me for a long time I have been on the search for a brilliant eye serum for as long time (the one I loved some would say addicted to has retired to the heavens). I have tried so many, some are too thin and almost watery and then the opposite and they are too thick that you can’t apply an eye cream with out get tiny white milia around the eye orbital. From an eye serum I want it to hydrate and plum up the lines and wrinkles, I also want it to decongest the eye area, turbo charge and work harmoniously with my eye cream to deliver long lasting result oh and gorge the skin with hydration.
Wildsmith Active Super Eye Serum
Combining hydrolyzed hyaluronic acid (a low weight molecule to plump up the lines and wrinkles) which holds a 1000 times its own weight in moisture. It’s a natural protein found in your skin and by the time your 30 you have lost 50% so this is why your lines and wrinkles. Wildsmith Skin have used Green Coffee and it’s believed to have more antioxidant power then Vitamin C and E over a 48 hr period so delivers long lasting protection. Larch tree extract plays a role in increasing cell renewal and wound healing.

Best Hydrating Eye Creams
Hydration is single handedly the most important factor for the skin and even more so for the eyes. If you are not struggling with dark circles and you are not seeing any line and wrinkles, then hydrating eye creams are essential. Ultimately hydration will help to keep the lines at bay. I am always asked when I should start applying an eye cream, if you have got to 25 without applying an eye cream, I suggest you start, ideally I would want you applying a hydrating eye cream from 18 upwards.
Glossier Bubblewrap Eye + Lip Plumping Cream
I love they call this the “White Glove treatment for the most delicate areas”. There is nothing not to like about this product, the price is incredible, the hydration is delivers, the antioxidants protection is on point. The perfect combination of hyaluronic acid to draw in moisture, squalane and avocado oil to provide comfort and help seal in moisture and blueberry to protect the skin.
Philosophy Purity Hydra Bounce Eye Gel
This texture is amazing, I am going to do my best to describe just how gorgeous this texture. It’s all about the bounce, imagine checking into a hotel and diving onto the huge bed that has the best duvet and topper and you almost jump right off. The comfort the bounce the texture that you feel on your body well imagine that for your eyes. If you are burning the candle at both ends of the day and you want an eye cream that is going to immerse the skin in hydration and you now that your eyes do show from time to time the lack of sleep this really helps to revive the eyes.
Best Eye Cream For Sensitive Skins
Origins Mega-Mushroom Relief & Resilience Soothing Gel Cream
If you have sensitive skin around the eyes you will know that feeling immediately when I mention how cooling and comforting using a cold metal applicator to soothe the skin around the eyes feels. Perfectly shaped to contour the eyes, helps drain away puffiness, cools and soothes sensitive skin around the eye area and that’s just the applicator.
The mega mushroom formula is power packed with anti-inflammatory agents, the concept being that inflammation is the root cause of sensitivity and I am absolutely with Origins on this. The Reishi Mushroom is often referred to as the “mushroom of immortality” thanks to the life extending properties, and is often used in Chinese medicine to heal, improve skin health and longevity.
